Half day - deafness the background; effective communication skills; barriers and solutions; technical equipment; working with communication support staff.

Introductory - Background of deafness and communication; introduction to fingerspelling; every day sign language phrases; work related signs. All students will receive a copy of the Let's Sign for Work book.

Intermediate - further fingerspelling practice; numbers and time; descriptive sign language; conversational sign language; effective work based signs.

Categories of Deafness; effect of language acquisition and modification; how the textphone works; textphone etiquette; Typetalk/BT TextDirect.
